Milk Link, News, News: Awards Success For Reece's Creamery At The Royal Welsh Show

22 Jul 2010

Milk Link, the UK’s leading farmer-owned dairy co-operative and largest cheese manufacturer, excelled at yesterday’s Royal Welsh Show, in Builth Wells, Powys with its Creameries collecting 16 awards for its cheeses. Reece’s Creamery in Malpas, Cheshire collected five awards including a gold prize for its outstanding Cheshire Cheese (white), further supporting the Creamery’s position as the ‘home of Real Cheshire Cheese’.

The Creamery, which produces the finest quality Cheshire, Caerphilly, Lancashire, Wensleydale and other British Territorial cheeses such as Derby, was also awarded two silver prizes for its Cheshire Cheese (white) and its Lancashire Cheese, and two bronze awards for its Lancashire and Wensleydale cheeses.

These latest awards for Reece’s Creamery build on the success its Cheshire cheese has had at other cheese shows this season. In the last two months, it has collected silver and gold awards at the Royal Bath and West; silver and gold awards at The Great Yorkshire Show; and eight awards at the Cheshire County Show including the Ruth Harrison Silver Salver and Cheshire Agricultural Society Champion Cheshire Cheese trophy.

The results delighted the Chief Executive of Milk Link Neil Kennedy who said: “Our expert cheese makers deserve this recognition for their flair, dedication and skills which deliver the really exceptional taste and quality of our products.

“The acknowledgement here at the Royal Welsh Show for the excellence of our Reece’s Creamery makes me and everyone involved with Milk Link very proud. It also makes us determined to build on this success at future shows which are so important to the British dairy industry and in particular our farmers.”

Milk Link produces a range of branded cheeses and butters, including Tickler, a fabulous extra-mature Cheddar produced in the heart of Devon; Lockerbie Cheddar and Butter, unique products with a special kick and “a wee bit of bite”; and the Cadog range of Welsh cheeses. The company also manufactures over 20 varieties of Cheddars, blue Stiltons and British regional cheeses for the retail, food service and ingredients sectors.
