Milk Link, News, News: Milk Link Reports Record Sales Of Its Christmas 500G Tickler Pack Format - Up 58% Year On Year

18 Jan 2010

Milk Link, the UK’s leading dairy co-operative and largest cheese manufacturer, reports that sales of its 500g block of the highly popular Tickler extra-mature cheddar are up 58% compared to 2008*. The larger pack size, which was produced specifically for the Christmas market, was sold exclusively in Waitrose throughout December at a RRP of £5.49.

With its sweet and tangy, strong and tasty flavour, Tickler 500g proved to be overwhelmingly popular with consumers looking for larger blocks of Tickler to last over Christmas and Milk Link received additional orders to cope with demand. Waitrose sold the product exclusively in its stores throughout the UK, demonstrating their support for British dairy farmers and dedication to high quality cheeses.

Heather Coates, Senior Brand Manager, commented: “We are delighted that the festive 500g Tickler pack format has performed strongly again this year. It is great to know that consumers across the country enjoyed Tickler on their cheeseboards this Christmas.”

Tickler is produced at the award winning Taw Valley Creamery in Devon and has been a hit with the premium quality branded cheddar market since its launch in February 2007. Tickler is aimed at cheese lovers who are looking for some everyday indulgence and are disappointed with the range of extra mature cheddars available.

Milk Link produces a range of branded cheeses and butters, including Tickler, the fabulous extra-mature cheddar produced in the heart of Devon; The Red One, the really remarkable Red Leicester; Lockerbie Cheddar and Butter, unique products with a special kick and “a wee bit of bite”; the Cadog range of superb Welsh cheeses; and Moo Milk, the extended shelf life milk which comes as full-fat, semi-skimmed, one %, skimmed and with different flavours.

The company manufactures over 20 varieties of cheddars, Blue Stiltons and British regional cheeses for the retail, foodservice and ingredients sectors and employs over 1,000 staff across five cheese and dairy processing facilities and its consumer packing facility at Oswestry, Shropshire.
