Milk Link, Our Business, Communications Committee

The Communications Committee is responsible for agreeing the overall communications objectives and strategy of Milk Link. This reflects the Group’s view that communication is an important factor in developing a positive environment in which Milk Link can deliver its business strategy. In particular, the Committee monitors progress relating to Milk Link’s:

  • Corporate positioning – building and protecting the reputation of the business among its core stakeholders and those who have the potential to influence them.

  • Member communications – helping to maintain and develop understanding of the Group’s strategy and performance among the membership.

  • Internal communications – improving communication and exchange of information across the Group and helping to build a common culture.

  • Customer communications – developing further the Group’s relationships with both existing and potential new customers.

  • Media relations – securing positive, informed and/or balanced coverage across a range of media.

  • Opinion-former and decision-maker engagement – building relationships with individuals and groups that can have a direct influence on Milk Link’s business performance and reputation.

  • Web strategy – reviewing and, where appropriate, upgrading the Group’s web presence.

During the 2009/10 financial year the Committee was chaired by Rex Ward (Milk Link Vice Chairman) and its members included Peter Winstone (Farmer Elected Director); Johnnie Russell (Farmer Elected Director) and Will Sanderson (Corporate Affairs Director). Following the retirement of Rex Ward from the Board at the end of the year, Peter Winstone has now assumed the role of Committee Chair and David Christensen (Farmer Elected Director) has joined the Committee.

The Committee works closely with other areas of the Group and invites executives and employees to attend its meetings on an ad hoc basis in order to review with them specific areas of communications activity.
