Milk Link, Our Farmers, Our Farmers

Milk Link is entirely owned by more than 1,600 British dairy farmers, producing some 12% of Britain's milk supply. While the majority of our Members are based in the South West of England, we also have Members farming in Cumbria, South West Scotland, Hampshire, Kent and East Sussex, Surrey, West Sussex and Wiltshire.

Our rapid growth would not have been possible without the investment and commitment of our farmer Members and our goal is to provide long-term security for them and their dairy enterprises.

All our Members are independently accredited to the Assured Dairy Farm Standard, demonstrating that they produce milk to the highest standards of food safety and animal welfare.

Member Case Studies

Will Sanders
Milk Link Member Will Sanders of Haydons Farm, Ashill, Cullompton, recently decided to stay in dairying following his father’s retirement. Having helped on the farm all his life and worked in partnership with his father, Tony, for the last three years, Will made the decision after careful reassessment of the situation and consideration of which farming route to pursue.

It is encouraging to see that there is a new generation moving into dairy farming. Will comments: “I’ve never wanted to be involved in anything other than farming, but I was unsure of which route to follow. When the time came to make a decision about the long-term, I came to the conclusion that focusing on dairy farming was definitely the right choice for me, while also continuing with some beef and contracting.”

Alban Harris
Alban Harris is a seventh generation farmer and a Milk Link Member. He and his wife Helen live at Brunsell Farm, Dorset, with their four children. Originally, Brunsell Farm was a mixed farm with sheep, poultry and cereals as well as a dairy unit. However, when his father retired four years ago, Alban decided to concentrate on dairying and the farm underwent major changes. Alban and Helen let the sheep go, cut down on corn and stopped rearing beef to focus on milk production.

Alban says that farming has always been the right career choice for him: “It just seemed like a natural progression to farm. More than anything else, I want to be milking. If my son Archie wanted to follow in my footsteps, Helen and I would certainly support him. We might make it eight generations yet!’
